All hands to battle stations! The 2009 Land Grab is taking place in May!

A total of 19 land areas of varying sizes on Amethera are up for grabs! As the owner of a piece of land, a society will be able to collect a fee from hunting and mining activity on their land for a period of 9 months. The revenue will automatically be distributed between society members.

To gain ownership of the land area, a society will need to claim and defend the area during the Land Grab 2009. Get ready for a weekend of war, everybody else is!

Red Land Areas are exclusive for Category 2 societies ranked 11 to 50. The red areas are number 1, 10 and 15, all in contest in phase 3. See Societies-Categories below for how societies are divided into categories.

The Yellow Land Area, number 7, is a special prize for the society that has claimed the most areas when all other areas have been claimed.

Societies

Members

The top 50 societies (based on their ranking on Wednesday April 8th) may only increase their member count with 5 as per membership count on Wednesday April 8th.

A society that exceeds this limit may not claim any land. They may still assist other societies.

Categories

Societies are divided into 2 categories depending on their ranking on Wednesday May 27th.

Category 1 consists of societies ranked 1-10. Category 1 societies can claim any of the green colored land areas but cannot claim the red colored land areas 1, 10 and 15.

Category 2 consists of societies ranked 11-50. Category 2 societies can claim any colored land area, including the red colored areas.

The categories will be finalized, set and published on Wednesday May 27th before phase 1 begins. This will be your ranking and category allocation for the duration of the Land Grab event.

Society rankings 1-50 on April 8th are:

Land Areas can only be claimed by Societies listed above as compiled on April 8th. These listed Societies can recruit a maximum of 5 members in addition to their current member count listed above as compiled on  April 8th.

Additional Prizes

The society that claims the most land areas will be awarded two additional prizes.

Chomper DNA: One Chomper DNA will be given in hand to the leader of the society that claims the most land areas.

Land Area 7: A nine month lease of land area 7 complete with Araneatrox DNA, coded yellow on the map, will be given to the society that claims the most land areas.

If there is a tie, the tied societies will have to fight to claim land area 7 at a date announced later.

Rules

  1. Only societies can claim a piece of land. The land is claimed by finding the “claim marker “for a certain piece of land. Then click on the stake and follow the instructions presented.

  2. Any society claiming a land area not in their category (i.e. if any society in Category 1 tries to claim a red-coded land area) will be disqualified. Members of societies that are not qualified for a land area may still assist other societies by fighting in the area, as long as they do not claim the marker.

  3. Societies not listed in the top 50 that claim land will be disqualified.

  4. The land has to be successfully defended for four consecutive hours before ownership of the land is turned over to the society for a period of nine months.

  5. Defense of the land is achieved in the following manner:

    1. At least one member of the society will have to be alive and present within a radius of 30 meters from the claim marker at all times from when the land is claimed until the full time period has elapsed.

    2. If all society members have exited the radius, the claim marker will emit a warning signal (sound and light) for a limited period of time. This is a short grace period of approximately 30 seconds, during which any living society member must get inside the radius. Otherwise the claim for the land will be lost.

    3. If the claim for a land area is lost, any society (including the one that lost the claim) that qualifies for the category may take new ownership of the land claiming process.

  6. Anyone killed within a certain range from the claim marker during the land grab will be out of commission for five minutes before the revival process is initiated. It is possible to be resurrected by Mind Force.

  7. A single society may only have one piece of land within a claiming process at a time.

  8. Pets are not allowed on the Land Grab land areas during the event.

  9. Any society claiming a land area not in their category will be disqualified.
Any society in the Top 50-list per April 8th that increases their membership count by more than 5 will be disqualified.

  10. The society that claims the most land areas during the event wins the additional prize as mentioned under Additional prizes above.

    1. If there is a tie, the tied societies will have to claim land area 7 when all land areas except #7 have been claimed. The winner of this fight claims both land area #7 and the Chomper DNA.

    2. Area #7 is only open for claims by the tied societies. Should any other society claim area #7, that society will be disqualified. Members of other societies may assist the tied societies, as long as they don’t claim.

    3. If a disqualified society has claimed land areas in the event, their land areas will immediately be freed for claiming by other societies, and land area #7 will immediately be closed again pending the result of the grab for these other areas.

  11. Rules may be subject to change in which case a Land Grab update news will be posted and this webpage amended.

FAQ

A landgrab FAQ can be found here.

Q
If my society is in the top 10 but we drop to ranks 11-50, will we then be able to try to take all the land areas as long as the drop in rank occurs before May 27th?

A
Yes you will.

Q
I have no society, if me and my friends make a society and end up being in the top 10, are we bound to the member count rule since we haven't existed yet?

A
No. Only the societies on the list per April 8th may enter.
No newly created societies will be accepted.

Q
In my society we have 2 members that will be leaving. Our current membership count is 34.
When they leave we will be 32. Can we fill their spots and in addition accept 5 more people and not be disqualified? In other words our current membership will still only be 5 more than the 34 as of April 8th, but we will have accepted 7 new members.

A
The limit is from the list of April 8th, plus five members.
IE, if member count was 34 on April 8th, it can be 39 on May 27th.
The society can kick and fill as many members as it wants as long as there are no more than 39 (+5) members during the event.

Q
Are the top 50 societies allowed to lower their member count?

A
Yes.

Q
Is member count changes allowed after May 27th or during the landgrab?

A
Yes, as long as the +5 rule is honored.

Q

Are the current DNA the ones we will se on the actual land grab day?

A

No, the DNA will change so don't choose what land area to grab because of the current standings.
